MUNCIE, Ind. -- Rob Giles scored 16 points off the bench and Jarrod Jones grabbed 15 rebounds as Ball State beat Toledo 66-53 on Sunday to claim its first win in the Mid-American Conference.
Jones, Brandon Lampley and Malik Perry each scored 13 for the Cardinals (9-8, 4-1), who shot 41 percent from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range.
Justin Anyijong had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the Rockets (4-15, 2-3). Jonathan Amos scored 14 for Toledo, which was edged 37-36 on the boards.
The two sides started the second half neck-and-neck after a 22-22 halftime tie. But with just under 10 minutes left and the game tied at 36, Lampley nailed a 3-pointer to ignite a 17-4 run that gave the Cardinals a 53-40 lead.
The Rockets never threatened again.
