Anderson makes one shot count as Villanova survives Marquette in Big East
NEW YORK -- At first, it seemed the game clock was moving faster than it should have been for Villanova. Then, less than a second was taking forever.An improvised play led to a last-second layup by Dwayne Anderson that fell in as the buzzer sounded and gave the Wildcats (No. 13 ESPN/USA Today, No. 10 AP) a 76-75 victory over No. 21 Marquette on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament.
• Villanova has not won more than one game in the Big East tournament since 2004 and has only won the tournament once (1995).
• Marquette has now lost six consecutive games against ranked teams and is 4-4 all-time in the Big East tournament.
• Villanova's Scottie Reynolds has scored in double figures in 33 of his last 36 games.
