CLEVELAND -- Max Boudreau scored 13 points and Calvin Betts had 11 points and 18 rebounds to lead Buffalo to a 65-62 win over Kent State in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament Thursday afternoon.
Buffalo (20-10) took the lead for good, 54-53, on Mitchell Watt's layup with 5:39 to play, and the Bulls held on with free throw shooting.
Kent State's Al Fisher was 2-of-14 from the field, scoring just nine points after scoring 25 in Tuesday's first round win over Northern Illinois. Chris Singletary, returning from a one-game suspension, scored 13 points for the Golden Flashes but fouled out with 4:37 remaining.
Tryee Evans scored 11 points and Jordan Mincy added 10 for Kent State (19-14), which couldn't extend its 10-year streak of 20-win seasons.
Titus Robinson scored 10 points for the Bulls, which meets Ball State in the semifinals Friday night.
