Wall overcomes 7 turnovers with late FTs; Calipari sets NCAA record with win
AUBURN, Ala. -- John Wall and No. 2 Kentucky were making youthful mistakes, and taking another team's best shot. It's nothing new for the Wildcats, and neither was the final outcome.Wall hit two free throws with 8.9 seconds left to finish off a sometimes shaky performance and help Kentucky remain unbeaten with a 72-67 victory over Auburn on Saturday."We've got everybody we play trying to make his name at our expense," Wildcats coach John Calipari said. "That's what happens every game we play. You've got to accept that challenge."
• Kentucky withstood a second-half comeback attempt by Auburn and is 18-0 for the third time in school history and first since the 1965-66 team started 23-0.
• DeMarcus Cousins had 16 points (5 for 6 FGs) and 11 rebounds, his team-leading ninth double-double of the season.
• John Wall added 13 points but had seven turnovers (six in second half), his third game this season with seven turnovers.
• Auburn has lost three straight and seven of its last eight games vs. ranked opponents.
