Marquette knocks off No. 19 UConn; Butler's 21 include winning shot
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Hard-luck Marquette finally won a close game on the road.Jimmy Butler's driving shot with 2.4 seconds left gave the Golden Eagles a 70-68 win over No. 19 Connecticut on Saturday. It was the team's first road win of the season, and helped ease the sting of five Big East losses that have come by a total of 11 points.
• Marquette picked up its first win in six true road games this season and first road victory over a ranked opponent in three years.
• Connecticut outrebounded Marquette 41-18 but the Golden Eagles had only two turnovers compared to 16 for the Huskies.
• Jimmy Butler scored 21 points for Marquette and Lazar Hayward had 20.
• Jerome Dyson had 18 points for the Huskies, who fell to 13-8 and 3-5 in the Big East this season. Five of Connecticut's eight losses this season have been by five points or less.
