CLEVELAND -- Norris Cole scored 25 points to lead Cleveland State to a 78-68 win over Iona on Saturday night.
Cole also had five rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Vikings (2-0).The first half was close, with Cleveland State leading 23-21 with 5:56 to go until intermission. The Vikings then closed out the half on an 11-4 run.The Gaels (0-2) closed the gap to 39-36 with 16:58 to go, but could get no closer. Leading 70-62 with 2:59 to go, Cleveland State was 8 of 8 from the free-throw line until the buzzer. Cole made all six of his attempts.Cleveland State was 22 of 23 from the stripe for the game.Trevon Harmon added 16 points and 10 rebounds and Aaron Pogue had 11 points for the Vikings.Iona's Michael Glover had 28 points on 8-for-18 shooting from the field and 12 for 15 from the line. Rashon Dwight scored 19 for the Gaels, who were outrebounded 38-27.
