MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Lavoy Allen had 13 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday night as Temple defeated Central Michigan 65-53.
Juan Fernandez scored 18 points to lead the Owls (4-2), who rallied from a 10-point deficit.
The Chippewas (2-4) led 41-31 with 16:35 remaining, and Temple scored the next eight points. It was 49-46 in favor of Central Michigan with 10:42 to play but the Chippewas only managed four points after that. The Owls took the lead for good on Allen's layup with 9:30 to go.
Ramone Moore added 16 points for Temple. Jalin Thomas led all scorers with 26 for Central Michigan, but his final points came on a 3-pointer with 11:40 to go. Amir Rashid added 11 points for the Chippewas.
It was the inaugural game at McGuirk Arena and the CMU Events Center, home of the school's winter sports programs.
