The Golden Eagles (4-5, 2-0) led by 17 points in the second half, but their last double-digit advantage disappeared during a 5:50 stretch in which Eastern Illinois (4-7, 1-2) outscored them 13-0.
Swansey, who had eight assists to lead Tennessee Tech, had missed his first five shots before hitting the game-winner. Alfred Jones came off the bench to lead the Golden Eagles with 13 points. Zach Bailey added 12 points and Kevin Murphy contributed 10.
