John Holland's second-half surge leads BU to victory

    Associated Press

BOSTON -- John Holland scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half as Boston University defeated New Hampshire 61-54 Tuesday night.

The Terriers (6-10, 1-1 America East Conference) battled back from a three-point halftime deficit and rallied after New Hampshire (6-8, 0-2) stretched that lead to eight.

Holland made back-to-back 3-pointers, igniting a 19-4 run that put the Terriers ahead to stay. Matt Griffin's 3-pointer with 5:07 left gave Boston University its biggest lead at 53-43.

The Wildcats, who were led by 14 points apiece from Tyrone Conley and Scott Morris, pulled within five with 33 seconds left. That, however, was as close as they got.

Darryl Partin had 10 points and Griffin added nine, but the Terriers got a big boost from Patrick Hazel, who had eight points. More importantly, Hazel also had 10 rebounds and a career-high six blocked shots.
