DENVER -- Chase Hallam scored 18 points and Brian Stafford added 15 to help Denver rout Florida Atlantic 69-42 on Thursday night.
The Pioneers (12-12, 8-3 Sun Belt), which lead the conference's West Division, led by 13 points at halftime and continued to pull away after the break.The Owls (18-7, 10-2), which lead the East Division, got within 10 points with about 10 minutes to go on Kore White's layup.But Chase Hallam answered with a 3-pointer as part of a 6-0 burst that carried Denver to a 50-34 advantage. Florida Atlantic did not threaten the rest of the way.Justin Coughlin added 13 points and Travis Hallam 12 for Denver.Jordan McCoy scored 12 points to lead the Owls, which lost for just the second time in their last 12 games.Florida Atlantic shot only 38.5 percent from the field while Denver hit 57.1 percent.
