OMAHA, Neb. -- Doug McDermott scored 18 points to lead Creighton past Illinois State 75-59 on Wednesday night.
Josh Jones added a career-high 15 points on 6-for-6 shooting for the Bluejays (17-11, 9-7 Missouri Valley). Creighton shot 62.8 percent from the field, and went 56 percent (10 for 18) from 3-point range. Jones had three 3-pointers.
McDermott was 7 for 11 from the field and had a team-high six rebounds for Creighton, which used a 14-0 run that ended in the first minute of the second half to take a 37-25 lead. Antoine Young added 11 points.
Austin Hill scored a career-high 27 points for Illinois State (11-16, 3-13). Justin Clark added 12 points for the Redbirds, playing without leading scorer Jackie Carmichael, who did not make the trip due to illness.
