HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Devon Moore made the second of two free throws with 2.9 seconds left to lift James Madison past Miami (Ohio) 70-69 on Saturday.
Miami's Julian Mavunga caught the inbounds pass at half court, but his 40-foot heave missed to give the Dukes (20-9) the victory. James Madison reached 20 wins in a season for the first time since the 1981-82 season.
Julius Wells finished with 16 points to lead four other James Madison players who scored in double figures. Humpty Hitchens scored 15 points, Moore had 12 points and six assists, Andrey Semenov pitched in with 11 and Denzel Bowles added 10.
Mavunga had a career-high 24 points, shooting 4 of 6 from beyond the arc for the RedHawks (14-13), who had their five-game winning streak snapped. Allen Roberts scored 12 points and had eight rebounds, while Nick Winbush had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.
