NEW YORK -- Brenton Butler scored 29 points and Fordham beat Massachusetts 77-73 on Saturday in the regular-season finale for both teams to snap a 41-game Atlantic 10 Conference losing streak.
Fordham, whose largest lead was 56-43 with 10:57 to play, led 71-61 with 1:37 remaining. But the Minutemen used a 10-3 run to cut the lead to 74-71 at the 27-second mark before Butler sealed it with two free throws 7 seconds later.
UMass made 20 of 32 free throw attempts, but was held to 37.7 percent shooting (23 of 61) from the field.
