WICHITA, Kan. -- David Kyles scored 19 points to lead five players in double figures as Wichita State defeated Charleston Southern 85-57 on Sunday.
Demetric Williams scored 12 points for the Shockers (1-0), who led by more than 40 in the second half.
Thomas Odum had 13 points and Saah Nimley 12 for Charleston Southern (0-2).
Wichita State held the Buccaneers to one field goal in the first 10 minutes, helping the Shockers take a 25-6 lead. Kyles had 10 points during the run, including three 3-point shots.
The Shockers were 7 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to a 45-17 halftime lead.
Charleston Southern never threatened in the second half. A Williams 3-pointer with 9:48 remaining gave Wichita State a 74-32 lead.
