NEW ORLEANS -- Josh Davis scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Tulane overwhelmed Nicholls State 96-50 on Tuesday night.
The points were the most scored by the Green Wave (2-0) since a 103-47 win over Savannah State on Dec. 20, 2002.
The Green Wave held the Colonels (0-2) to 34 percent shooting from the floor (18 of 53), including 2 of 11 from 3-point range. Jeremy Smith led Nicholls State with nine points.
Tulane knocked down 8 of 16 3-pointers in the first half. For the game, the Green Wave shot 58.6 percent from the floor (34 of 58) and hit 13 of 31 3-pointers, the third most in a single game in school history.
Tulane outrebounded the Colonels 40-26 and had 25 assists.
