VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Kevin Van Wijk scored 22 points and Ryan Broekhoff 21 to pace hot-shooting Valparaiso to its fifth straight victory, an 84-68 decision over Duquesne on Sunday in the 2K Sports Classic.
Jay Harris made 5 of 6 shots, including all three 3-pointers, and added 17 points for the Crusaders (5-1), who converted 28 of 48 shots (58.3 percent). Broekhoff also had game-best totals of 13 rebounds, six assists and five 3-pointers.
Kadeem Pantophlet made every shot he took and scored 14 points to lead the Dukes (3-2), whose three-game winning streak ended. Pantophlet went 5-for-5, including four 3-pointers.
Valparaiso scored the game's first 10 points, and the only time Duquesne led was when Pantophlet hit a 3-pointer for a 23-22 edge with 7:58 left in the first half.
The Crusaders had a 34-17 rebounding advantage.
