SPARTANSBURG, S.C. -- Torrey Craig scored 20 points to help South Carolina-Upstate defeat Texas-Pan American 78-63 on Friday.
SC-Upstate (4-2) opened the game on a 14-4 run that was started by a Torrey jumper. Torrey ended the run with a 3-pointer with 13:13 remaining in the first half. Texas-Pan American closed the gap to three, 16-13, but Torrey made a layup, sparking a 13-6 run for the Spartans.
Both teams played relatively equal across the board, with each shooting 31 percent (5 for 16) from 3-point range.
SC-Upstate held a slim 32-29 rebounding margin. However, the Spartans scored 25 points off 16 Broncos turnovers and added 12 second chance points compared to just four for Texas-Pan American.
