CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Ricky Taylor scored 21 points to lead Chattanooga over Hiwassee 95-41 on Wednesday night.
Chattanooga led 16-9 with 13:42 left in the first half before holding Hiwassee without a basket over the next 11:31.
The Mocs then went on a 27-0 run paced by 16 points from Taylor. He scored 13 straight at one point during the spurt, which led to a 45-15 Chattanooga lead at halftime.
Chattanooga shot 55.4 percent from the field (31 of 56), including a 10-of-18 performance from 3-point range (55.6 percent).
The Mocs also played well on defense, holding Hiwassee to 26.3 percent from the field (15 of 57).
The Tigers, of the NCCAA, were led by Ty Johnson with seven points, five rebounds and five steals.
