DAVIS, Calif. -- Phil Martin scored 24 points, including the game-winner with 1:38 left, to give UC Riverside a 60-58 victory over UC Davis on Thursday night.
B.J. Shearry went 5-for-5 and scored 10 points for the Highlanders (7-8, 1-1 Big West).
The difference came at the free throw line, where the Highlanders made 12 of 17 to the Aggies' 7 of 8.
UC Davis took a 58-54 lead when Ritchart scored with 3:50 to go.
But baskets by Shearry and Robert Smith tied the game at 58 with 2:55 to go.
That set up Martin for the winner.
The Aggies missed two shots and turned it over four times in the final minute and a half.
