MOSCOW, Idaho -- Joaquim Vander scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Hawaii beat Idaho 76-70 on Saturday night.
Idaho trailed by three with 1:14 remaining, but missed two 3-pointers down the stretch. Hawaii would convert 8 of 9 free throws to seal the win.
The game saw seven lead changes and seven ties. Hawaii Shot 56 percent and Idaho shot 48 percent.
The Vandals made only five 3-pointers, which was well below their season average. Idaho is leading the WAC in 3-point shooting percentage at a clip of 40.9 percent.
