ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Teancum Stafford scored 19 points and Alaska-Anchorage defeated Loyola Marymount 83-77 on Saturday, giving the host Seawolves fourth place in the Great Alaska Shootout.
Colton Lauwers scored 14 points and Kyle Fossman and Abebe Demissie scored 12 apiece for Alaska-Anchorage (6-1), which shot 57 percent from the field and hit 56 percent (15 of 27) from 3-point range. The Division II school matched its highest finish in the tournament, which it has now achieved seven times. The Seawolves are 35-70 in the 35 years of the tournament.
Anthony Ireland scored 26 points to lead all scorers for Loyola Marymount (3-3). Ashley Hamilton scored 16 points and Nick Stover scored 11 for the Lions. LMU shot 40 percent from the field and 58 percent from the free-throw line.
