BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Sammy Yeager scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds Wednesday night, helping Cal State-Fullerton exact some revenge on CS Bakersfield with a 74-62 victory.
Stephon Carter had 14 points to lead the Roadrunners (6-13), who snapped Fullerton's 13-game home winning streak with a 72-70 victory Dec. 6. Carter moved within 59 points of breaking Bakersfield's all-time scoring record held by Kenny Warren, but the Roadrunners hurt themselves by committing 24 turnovers.
The Titans took the lead for good, 33-31, on Vaughn's two free throws 2:50 before halftime, then led by as many as 13 in the second half. Fullerton fell short of its scoring average of 85.6 points per game but shot 53 percent from the floor.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
Andrew White III will return to the Nebraska men's basketball team next season after removing his name from the NBA draft.
