HOUSTON -- Ricky Tarrant scored 27 points, including a three-point play with 2 seconds remaining, and Tulane defeated Houston 88-85 Saturday.
The Green Wave (16-8, 4-5 Conference USA) overcame a 16-point Houston lead in the second half. The Cougars still led 79-66 with less than 4 minutes to play when Tulane scored the next 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers by Jordan Callahan, to get within a point.
Timmons finished with 22 points and nine rebounds and Josh Davis had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Green Wave, who ended an 18-game conference road losing streak.
Young led the Cougars (14-8, 3-6) with 26 points. TaShawn Thomas added 20 points for Houston.
