FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Frank Gaines scored 26 points to become IPFW's all-time scoring leader in an 88-75 victory over BracketBusters foe Bowling Green on Saturday night.
Gaines was 8 of 14 from the field for the Mastodons (14-16), who won their fourth straight. Gaines finished the night with 1,773 career points, moving him past Sean Gibson, who played from 1989-93, into IPFW's top spot.
IPFW rode a 14-0 first-half run to an 18-6 lead, then kept stretching it to lead 43-26 at halftime. Bowling Green couldn't get closer than nine points down in the second half.
The schools split their only two previous meetings, in 2003 and 2004.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
Andrew White III will return to the Nebraska men's basketball team next season after removing his name from the NBA draft.
