LAS VEGAS -- Johnny Dee scored 25 points, including eight in the closing minutes, as San Diego knocked off BYU 72-69 in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference tournament Friday night.
The sixth-seeded Toreros (16-17) took the lead for good on a three-point play by Dee that made it 65-62 with 2:12 remaining, and Chris Anderson added a pair of free throws to make it a five-point lead. Third-seeded BYU (21-11) scored three times in the final 30 seconds to make it a one-possession game, but Dee responded by hitting 5 of 6 free throws to secure the victory.
San Diego advances to meet No. 2 seed Saint Mary's in the WCC semifinals on Saturday.
Anderson finished with 16 points and six assists for the Toreros while Ken Rancifer added 15 points.
