IRVINE, Calif. -- Luke Nelson scored 19 points and Alex Young added 16 as UC Irvine moved past Eastern Washington 81-58 Sunday.
The Anteaters (4-3) held a 20-14 lead midway through the first half, and surged with a 23-8 run to lead by 21 at the break. Young hit a trio of 3-pointers in a span of just over a minute in the second half to put UC Irvine ahead 65-34, its largest lead.
Nelson and Young combined to hit nine of UC Irvine's 11 3-pointers. Will Davis II finished with 10 points and Mamadou Ndiaye blocked eight shots.
Eastern Washington (4-2) couldn't overcome the deficit, shooting just 30 percent from the field and netting four of its 21 3-point attempts.
Tyler Harvey scored a game-high 21 points and had nine rebounds, but was the only scorer in double figures for the Eagles. Drew Brandon had nine points and 10 boards.
