OGDEN, Utah -- Davion Berry scored 25 points, with 18 of them coming from the foul line, to lead Weber State to a 65-59 win over Southern Utah on Saturday night.
Weber State (7-6, 4-1 Big Sky) won the game on 31-of-43 free throw shooting, with Berry's 18 penalty buckets in a single game tying a school record. Southern Utah (1-14, 0-6) made just 12 trips to the free throw line for seven points.
With the score tied at 51 late in the second half, the Wildcats used a 6-0 spurt sparked by a Kyndahl Hill dunk to carve out the lead it would hold down the stretch and extend their Big Sky home win streak to 21. Berry was the only Weber State player to reach double figures.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
Andrew White III will return to the Nebraska men's basketball team next season after removing his name from the NBA draft.
