Hot-shooting Dartmouth defeats Longwood 84-64

HANOVER, N.H. -- Alex Mitola scored 18 points and Tyler Melville 17 for hot-shooting Dartmouth in an 84-64 victory over Longwood on Saturday.

The Big Green (6-4) hit 30 of 46 shots, including 9 of 20 3-point attempts, for 65.2 percent on their way to their third consecutive victory. It's Dartmouth's first three-game win streak since 2008-09.

Gabas Maldunas added 14 points and a career-high seven blocked shots, and John Golden scored 13 points for Dartmouth, which missed only one shot inside the arc in the second half, shooting 75 percent.

Tristan Carey led Longwood (5-8) with 20 points while Lucas Woodhouse added 16. The Lancers came up with 10 steals but were outrebounded 31-18.

Dartmouth led 40-30 at halftime and never let the Lancers get within single digits in the second half. A 15-5 run put the Big Green up by 20 with 6:29 left. Their largest lead was 27 points at 4:06.
