BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tim Williams scored 31 points, on 14-of-16 shooting, to lead Samford over Presbyterian 71-59 on Monday.
Samford (6-9) shot 57 percent from the floor, but hit just 2 of 12 from beyond the arc. Connor Miller added 11 points for the Bulldogs, who were dominant in the paint, outscoring Presbyterian 46-16.
Presbyterian (4-10) was led by Reggie Dillard with 23 points, while Jordan Dowling added 18.
The Blue Hose actually led at half, 37-34, as Dillard and Downing combined for 27 points. But Samford fed Williams inside in the second half as he went 7 of 9 and scored 16 after the break. Presbyterian went cold in the second, making just 8 of 27 (29 percent) and 3 of 13 on 3-pointers.
Samford was up by one with 10:13 left, but closed the game on a 17-6 run to win going away.
