American University beats Howard 76-53

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Tony Wroblicky scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Wednesday and American thumped crosstown foe Howard 76-53.

Kyle Kager opened the game with a dunk for American (3-4) and the Eagles never trailed, outscoring Howard (2-8) 36-13 in the first half. Wroblicky scored 15 points in the first half and the Eagles outshot the Bison 56.4 percent from the field to 31 percent.

Each team scored 40 points in the second half, but the Eagles finished with 22 assists to seven for the Bison, and scored 29 points off of Howard's 21 turnovers.

Jalen Rhea scored 14 points for American and John Schoof added 13, including three 3-pointers.

Marcel Boyd and James Daniel led Howard (2-8) with 15 points each and Prince Okoroh added 10 points.

It was the 19th meeting between the teams and American leads the series 15-4.
