SAN DIEGO -- Anthony Ireland's 20 points and 12 assists helped Loyola Marymount outdistance South Dakota State 98-89 on Saturday.
LMU went into intermission ahead 45-44 on three straight 3-pointers. The Lions led by as many as 15 in the second half and their shooting percentage of 57.6 percent was the best in four years.
Loyola Marymount committed 37 fouls, equaling a school-worst, and South Dakota State hit 37 of 50 from the line.
Jordan Dykstra led the Jackrabbits (0-2) with 22 points and 11 rebounds for his 12th career double-double, scoring 11 from the free-throw line.
The game was close until four straight turnovers by the Jackrabbits fueled an 8-0 LMU run midway in the second half.
