LAFAYETTE, La. -- Shawn Long scored a career-high 29 points including 24 in the second half when Louisiana-Lafayette left McNeese State behind in a 92-66 victory on Tuesday night.
Long, a sophomore, also had 15 rebounds to record his 20th career double-double for Louisiana, which is 2-0 for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
Louisiana led the Cowboys (0-2) by just three, 41-38, at the half before Long led the second-half deluge. Louisiana scored 22 points off turnovers for the game.
Louisiana was 35 of 68 from the field for 51.5 percent. McNeese State shot just 33.3 percent (23 of 69).
Forward Kennedy Meeks, who has averaged 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds at North Carolina, has pulled out of the NBA draft and will return to the Tar Heels.
Cal big man Ivan Rabb could have been selected in the top 10 of the NBA draft. Instead, he's returning to Berkeley to make himself, and the Golden Bears, stronger.
Devin Williams' decision last month to sign with an agent and enter the NBA draft has left West Virginia in a tough spot.
