MOBILE, Ala. -- Augustine Rubit scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead South Alabama to a 76-53 win over NAIA-William Carey.
South Alabama (2-1) jumped out to a 26-15 lead in the first 12 minutes and kept a comfortable lead for the rest of the game. T.J. Johnson scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half.
William Carey shot 42.9 percent in the first half and was able to keep the game at 38-28 going into halftime. However, the Crusaders shot a frigid 27.6 percent in the second half, allowing South Alabama to pull away.
South Alabama's Barrington Stevens scored 10 points while Ken Williams added 11. Rubit could have scored more, but he went 2 of 12 from the free-throw line.
