SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Emani Gant scored 16 points and tied a career-high with 12 rebounds to lead Texas State to a 73-54 victory Saturday over Texas-Tyler.
Texas State (4-8) opened the second half on a 12-2 run to stretch its lead to 44-29 with 15:40 remaining. Gant scored eight points during the span.
Texas-Tyler answered with an 11-3 run to pull within 47-40. Texas State followed with Wesley Davis scoring seven straight points. Davis scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half. Phil Hawkins also scored 16 points for Texas State.
The Bobcats led 56-44 with 7:39 to play, and never led by less than 12 the rest of the way.
Texas State was 1 of 11 from 3-point range. The Bobcats had made at least five 3-pointers a game during a five-game span.
Travis Dykman scored 13 points to lead three in double figures for Texas-Tyler.
