KENT, Ohio -- Mark Henniger made all five of his field goal attempts and scored 13 points to lead Kent State to a 75-58 win over Saint Peter's on Sunday.
Darren Goodson, who finished with 12 points and five assists, scored 10 points in the first half as Kent State (2-1) took a 33-29 lead into the break.
Saint Peter's (0-2) kept the game close until a conventional three-point play by Derek Jackson with 9:12 left sparked a 12-0 run by the Flashes, which pushed the Kent State lead to 66-46 with just under five minutes remaining.
Kent State shot 51.9 percent (28 of 54) from the field and 41.2 percent (7 of 17) from behind the 3-point line. They committed just eight turnovers.
Kris Brewer added 10 points in the win.
