Manhattan tops UNC-Wilmington 77-72

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- George Beamon scored 23 points as Manhattan erased an early deficit and held off UNC-Wilmington late in a 77-72 win on Sunday.

UNC-Wilmington (6-6) closed to within 75-72 with 35 seconds remaining, but Emmy Andujar and Rhamel Brown each made 1 of 2 free throws and the Seahawks missed a pair of 3-pointers with less than 30 seconds remaining in the comeback effort.

Manhattan (7-2) trailed 17-6 early in the first half before Beamon and Brown scored 15 of the next 22 points for the Jaspers, capped by a 3-pointer from Beamon for a 28-25 lead.

The Jaspers took a 34-30 lead to halftime against UNC-Wilmington (6-6) and maintained the lead throughout a close second half.

Brown scored 16 for Manhattan. Andujar added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Cedrick Williams led UNC-Wilmington with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Addison Spruill added 15 and Tanner Milson, Freddie Jackson each had 11.
