JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- A.J. English scored 18 points in helping Iona move past St. Peters 71-63 on Sunday, remaining atop the Metro Atlantic Athletics Conference standings.
Iona's Sean Armand added nine points and jumped three positions on the Iona all-time scoring list, moving to 14th place with 1,432 career points.
Iona (11-8, 8-2) led the Peacocks at halftime 44-27 after entering the game tied at the top of the MAAC with Manhattan and Canisius.
Iona pushed that lead to 21 points, 55-34, in the second half before St. Peters (7-12, 3-7) went to work in an effort to close the gap.
The Peacocks closed to within 10 points on a Desi Washington 3-pointer with 5 minutes to play but could get no closer than eight points at the buzzer.
