BEAUMONT, Texas -- Marko Gujanicic scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as George Mason beat Lamar 68-54 on Tuesday night.
George Mason (2-0) shot 54 percent from the field and was 8-of-17 from behind the 3-point arc. The Colonials held Lamar (0-2) to just 35.8 percent from the field and 2-of-11 on 3-pointers.
Patrick Holloway and Vaughn Gray came off the bench for George Mason to score 13 and 12 points respectively. George Mason outscored Lamar in bench points 30-9. Sherrod Wright also had 13 points for George Mason.
Lamar cut the Patriots' lead to 41-37 early in the second half but George Mason then went on a 13-4 run.
The two teams met in 2011 as well, a game that George Mason won 75-71.
Colorado State graduate transfer John Gillon has chosen Syracuse, giving the Orange a potential starter at point guard entering the 2016-17 season.
