NEW ORLEANS -- Cory Dixon scored 18 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots to lead New Orleans past Millsaps, 81-45, on Tuesday night.
After Murray Kastner hit two free throws for Millsaps to cut the deficit to 22-15 with 7:10 left in the first half, New Orleans scored 11 straight points, putting the game out of reach for good.
Millsaps, which shot just 14 of 47 from the field (29.8 percent), went without a field goal for 6:22 in the second half as the Privateers extended their lead to 39 points in the game's waning minutes.
Millsaps committed 31 turnovers (including eight by Kastner), nearly twice as many as its counterpart's 16.
New Orleans (1-1) dominated on the glass, outrebounding Millsaps 51-35 and pulling down 21 offensives boards.
Ryan Berger led the Majors with 10 points.
This game served as an exhibition for Millsaps, which will open its regular season Friday.
