Lamar defeats Savannah State 75-66

SALT LAKE CITY -- Donovan Ross had a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds Thursday night to lead Lamar over Savannah State 75-66 Thursday night.

Ross led three Lamar (1-3) players who scored in double figures as the Cardinals pick up their first win of the season. Ross has scored in double figures in each Lamar game this season. Keilan Blanks added 16 points was a game-high 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.

Joshua Montgomery scored 13 points and had a team-high 11 rebounds for Savannah State (2-4). Jeremiah Hill scored 11 points including 2 3-pointers. Deven Williams added 14 points and Jeremiah Hill 12.

It was the first of three games for the teams in the Global Sports Hoops Showcase. Lamar plays tournament host Utah, and Savannah State plays Grand Canyon, both Friday.
