Hobbie scored 12 of his points in the second half, including back-to-back 3-pointers to give Brown a 55-42 lead with just under 12 minutes left. Cornell (1-16, 0-3) was unable to cut the deficit to fewer than eight points the rest of the way.
Brown shot 55 percent from the field, including 8 of 18 from 3-point range. Hobbie was 6 of 9 from long range. McGonagill added 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
