RIVERDALE, N.Y. -- Maurice Creek scored 27 points and George Washington held off Manhattan late for an 80-74 win on Saturday night.
George Washington (3-0) erased a 39-30 halftime deficit with a 15-5 run to open the second half.
The Colonials led down the stretch, but Manhattan (2-1) rallied late and trailed 74-72 after George Beamon sank a pair of free throws with 1:00 left.
Kethan Savage hit a runner with 26 seconds remaining on the Colonials' next possession. Emmy Andujar's shot attempt was blocked by Isaiah Armwood as Manhattan tried to respond and George Washington secured the ball. Creek was 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the final 12 seconds of the game to help George Washington hang on for the win.
Armwood scored 20 points and Kevin Larsen had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Beamon guided Manhattan, scoring 34 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
