BANGOR, Maine -- Twelve players scored and Vermont shot 58 percent from the field as the Catamounts cruised to an 83-46 win over Maine Thursday night.
Vermont (9-8, 3-0 America East) jumped out to 21-5 lead and made 13 of its first 18 field goal attempts while pushing its lead to 31-9 with 8:18 left in the first half.
The Catamounts took a 37-20 lead into the break and led by as many as 39 late in the game. They dominated the interior, out-rebounding Maine (3-13, 1-3) 38-20 en route to 15 second-chance points and a 38-14 advantage in points in the paint.
Maine shot 16 of 45 (35.6 percent) from the field and 3 of 15 (20 percent) from 3-point range.
