DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Matt Tiby scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee rallied from an 11 point second half deficit to top Davidson 81-77 on Monday night.
De'Mon Brooks hit one of two free throws to give Davidson an 11-point lead, 55-44, with 14:29 left to play, but the Panthers (1-1) slowly chipped away, primarily at the free throw line where Milwaukee converted 32 of 40 attempts on the night.
Kyle Kelm, who scored ten points and was one of five Panther players in double figures, hit two free throws with 5:52 remaining to give Milwaukee its first lead 66-65, since about midway through the first half, when they led 22-19.
Tiby scored 12 points in the final 8:22 to help hold off Davidson (0-2).
Brian Sullivan and Ton Droney each scored 22 points for the Wildcats. Brooks added 14 points and ten rebounds, five offensive.
