It was Brown's second 20-plus game after hitting a last-second shot on Wednesday to lift Toledo to a two-point win over Buffalo. He made 4 of 9 3-pointers against Akron and all five of his free throws. Brown entered the game ranked fourth in the nation in assists per game (7.2) but was credited with just one on the day.
It was Toledo's (15-2, 3-1 MAC) first win against Akron since 2007 and its first victory on Akron's home court since 2001.
Demetrius Treadwell led Akron (11-6, 3-1) with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Zips were out-rebounded 42-28. Jake Kretzer added 14 points and Nick Harney had 11. Akron made just 16 of its 27 free throw attempts.
