ELON, N.C. -- Ryley Beaumont scored 16 points to lead Elon to a 75-66 victory over Appalachian State in Southern Conference play Monday night.
Appalachian State (4-10, 0-1) scored first, but Elon quickly took the lead, was ahead 17-9 at the 7:53 mark and sprinted to a 35-20 advantage at the half. The Mountaineers came back to trail only 69-63 with 40 seconds remaining following a 3-pointer by Frank Eaves and two free throws by Tevin Baskin. Elon extended the lead on four free throws by Isenbarger and two by Tanner Samson to secure the victory.
Elon outscored the Mountaineers in the paint, 40-28.
Jay Canty led the Mountaineers with 20 points, Baskin contributed 17 and Eaves had 11.
