MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Stephan Hicks scored a game-high 24 points and hit all four of his free throw attempts in overtime as Cal State Northridge outlasted Austin Peay 80-77 in the Central Michigan Tournament Friday.
In an overtime session during which the teams combined to make 3 of 10 field goals and commit five turnovers, Hicks was 4 of 4 from the charity stripe. His last two free throws, with :10 remaining, extended the Northridge (2-2) lead to 80-77. Travis Betran missed a 3-point shot with :01 left and Hicks' rebound sealed the win for the Matadors.
Austin Peay (2-3) led by as many as 12 in the first half and went into the half leading 37-31.
The Governors opened up a 60-52 lead but Northridge rattled off a 15-3 run to take a four-point lead with 5:08 left in regulation.
Will Triggs and Betran led Austin Peay with 17 points apiece.
