WORCESTER, Mass. -- Tony Johnson scored 20 points, hitting a 3-pointer with 4 seconds left to complete Lafayette's comeback from a 13-point deficit, as the Leopards edged hot-shooting Holy Cross 79-76 Wednesday night.
Lafayette (14-14, 7-4 Patriot League), which also defeated the Crusaders 63-53 on Jan. 23, trailed 60-47.
After the Leopards tied it at 67, Holy Cross, which shot 67.4 percent for the game (29 of 43), answered with a 9-3 run. Johnson converted a three-point play, then Seth Hinrichs hit a 3-pointer, assisted by Johnson, to knot it 76-76 with 53 seconds left.
NBA fans will be looking forward to their newest players making plays like this next season.
