Duquesne hoops finally makes it home

The Duquesne men's basketball team has arrived in Pittsburgh after being on the road for more than 30 hours due to this weekend's snow storm. The team had been sitting idle on the Pennsylvania turnpike since 9:15 pm Friday night.

Duquesne coach Jim Ferry just said in a text the Dukes are finally moving after sitting idle on the Pennsylvania turnpike since 9:15 pm Friday night. The Dukes' bus is 80 miles from Pittsburgh.

Text from Duquesne coach Jim Ferry: "We have eaten one meal. Some chicken n sandwiches. Got some snacks also. Rationed it n gave some food to the middle school kids next to us. Still here n haven't moved."

Just heard from Duquesne coach Jim Ferry. Still stuck. Bus hasn't moved since 9:15 pm Friday. Each player has a bottle of water but no more food. Team is still 80 miles from Pittsburgh.

Winter storm strands Duquesne hoops

The good news: The Dukes won a big road game Friday. The bad news: They are still trying to get home. Stuck on the highway

Duquesne coach Jim Ferry said in a text message that the team is 80 miles from Pittsburgh. "We r holding up. Bus is warm. Everyone is tired. I sure won't forget my 300th win!"

Duquesne beat George Mason Friday and left Fairfax, Va. at 4:30p. Spokesperson Dave Saba said in a text from the bus the team "made it PA Turnpike before we had to stop at 9:15 .... Been in the same spot ever since ... Guys have their electronics (our bus has been idling, so we have heat and power) ... Leftover pizza ... And a few Gatorades ... Honestly, we've had two people on this bus who have beaten cancer in the past two years (Derrick Colter and John Rhodes) ... I think our guys can handle this ..."

Duquesne defeats St. Louis 81-71

Derrick Colter scored 17 points and Micah Mason added 15 as Duquesne beat St. Louis 81-71 on Wednesday night in a game that was not as close as the score would indicate.
