Syracuse Sexual Abuse Scandal

In November 2011, two former Syracuse ball boys -- Bobby Davis and Mike Lang -- came forward with allegations that they had been molested by longtime Syracuse assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine over a period of 20 years. Fine and head coach Jim Boeheim denied the allegations, and an investigation was opened. Syracuse placed Fine on administrative leave during the initial investigation.

A third victim, Zach Tomaselli, came forward, alleging that Fine had sexually abused him as recently as 2002, leading police to seize file cabinets, computers and other potential evidence from Fine's home. On Nov. 27, ESPN's "Outside the Lines" reported that Fine's wife, Laurie, admitted in a tape-recorded 2002 telephone conversation that she had worries that her husband had sexually molested team ball boy Bobby Davis in their home, but said she felt powerless to stop the alleged abuse.

Tomaselli said in April of 2012 that he'd lied about his allegations, saying he'd never met Bernie Fine and that Bobby Davis had told Tomaselli what to say to investigators. Davis told ESPN's Mark Schwarz he had spoken with Tomaselli briefly, asking him questions about what allegedly happened, but did not tell Tomaselli what to say to investigators.

Fine was fired by Syracuse on Nov. 27, 2011.
